Hello Everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your summer so far.
We have opened up our 2022/23 Registration early this season to give everyone the opportunity to complete their online registration and pay their league fees prior to the beginning of the season.
Why would you do this? It's June, so why worry? Well, early registration helps the staff at the club prepare and plan events and programs to help boost membership. We are also offering some pretty great incentives this season for those of you who register early, so read on for more information.
Registration Information
If you created an online profile and registered via the website last season, you likely already know what to do! You just need to log in to your account on the main page of our website and use the large banner at the top of the page to complete your registration. Step-by-step instructions about how to do this are linked below.
Registration for Returning Users
If you did not create a profile last season or are new to the Avonair, you will need to first create a profile on the main page of our website. Once you have created your profile, you will then use your login information to login to your account and register for your league. You are not considered fully registered until you have done both and paid your league fees. Step-by-step instructions for creating an account are linked below. The link above would be used once an account has been created.
Account Creation for New Users
If you are a returning user and cannot remember your login information, don't fret! You can do one of two things. Linked below are step-by-step instructions about how to recover both your username and password. If you - for any reason - are unable to do so yourself, you can reach out to us at the club via email, and we can send your information to you or help you change it.
Recovering your Username/Password
If you are unable to register via the website, you have two options:
1) You can call, email, or visit us at the club on designated days later this summer for help with the online registration process
2) You can fill out a paper registration form and email it to us, or drop it off at the club. If you choose tp drop it off, you can do so on designated days later this summer (dates will be provided closer to) or you can drop it through the mail slot at the club. Please note: If you choose to complete a paper registration form, both the Curling Waiver and the COVID-19 waiver (linked below) are required for the registration to be complete.
Paper Registration Form
Curling Waiver 18+ Participants
COVID-19 Declaration
Fee Payment
In order to be considered fully registered - and therefore eligible for the incentives outline below - you must complete your registration (either via the website or on paper) and fully pay your league fees. If you are a member of a rental league, you are required to complete your online registration and pay your $13.00 Curling Alberta Membership fee (or provide proof of it being paid elsewhere) in order to be considered eligible.
We would ask that anyone who is able this season use methods other than credit (via the website or in person) to pay your league fees. The club is charged large merchant fees and is making an effort to reduce them. That being said, credit cards are absolutely an option for all members if needed or desired. Other payment methods available include: cash, debit, cheque, or e-transfer. We would like to bring special attention to e-transfer. We have set this up for the club this season to the email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. E-transfer is quick, convenient, and secure. We would encourage anyone able to utilize it, to do so.
Incentives
Those of you who register early this season (again please note: you will not be considered fully registered until you have both completed your registration and made your full payment) will be entered to win some prizes this season. We have three different cut off dates with different prizes for each. Please note: if you register before one of the earlier cut off dates, your name will be entered in all draws that come after the cut off date. You could have the chance to win one of 6 prizes.

COVID-19 Updates
The Avonair Curling Club has made the decision to abide by Alberta Health Services guidelines and mandates. If Alberta Health Services updates their restrictions and requirements, our policies and rules will update as well to accommodate the changes. Please visit the Alberta Health Services website for information about the current restrictions and mandates. Curling Canada and Curling Alberta have many other resources if you require more information.
- Vaccines are not required to curl at the Avonair Curling Club. We recommend that anyone eligible recieve both vaccinations.
- As per CMOH Order 40-2021, masks are now required at all indoor locations across the province of Alberta. Masks will be required in all common areas, stairwells, changerooms, and bathrooms. Masks will not be required when on the ice participating in the sport or when sitting at a table in the lounge.
- Physical distancing is recommended at all times when in the Avonair Curling Club. Floor decals and in ice decals encouraging physical distancing will be placed throughout the Avonair Curling Club. We recommend that curlers practice physical distancing wherever possible.
- We ask that all members show respect to their fellow curlers at all times this season. Please ask before shaking hands and respect everyone's choice to to distance and mask.

Membership Fee
Curling Alberta has changed their fee structure this season. In the past, curling clubs paid a flat fee for every sheet in the facility to Curling Alberta as well as a $2/curler fee to Curling Canada. This season, that has changed to a single fee of $13/curler. Any curler in Alberta who plays more than three games in a season is required to pay this fee to their curling club who will then remit it to Curling Alberta.
A breakdown of the fee is shown below:
Personal Accident Insurance $1.00
Curling Alberta Fee $10.00
Curling Canada Fee $2.00
Total $13.00
FAQs
- If I play at more than one curling club, do I have to pay the fee at all of them? No. This is a one time fee for every affiliated curler in the province. It is each individual curler’s responsibility to provide their secondary curling club with proof that their fee has been paid at another club.
- How do I know whether or not I have to pay the fee? If you curl regularly (more than 3 times) at a curling club in Alberta, you are required to pay this fee. This extends to any rental leagues in a club. The only groups that this fee does not apply to are school groups and learn to curl participants, casual ice rentals, and bonspiels.
- Will the fee be increased in the future? Curling Alberta has expressed that they have no intention of increasing the fee for the 2022/2023 season. Increases will only happen if they are reasonable and necessary.
- I have more questions about the fee. Where can I look? The Curling Alberta website has more information about the fee changes this season.
- I have questions/concerns about the fee and can’t find the information I need on the website. Who can I talk to? All questions can be directed to Shannon Kleibrink with Curling Alberta. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (403-461-5498)
Refund Policy
The Avonair Curling Club has updated our Refund Policy for the 2021/2022 Season. Please take a careful look through this policy before registration.
- League fee payments are due - at the latest - on the first night of league play.
- 50% of fees are non-refundable. This is to cover fixed costs associated with facility start-up and shut-down.
- In the event that the club is forced to close due to public health requirements, the remaining 50% of fees will be prorated based on the number of games played.
- In the event that the club is forced to close due to public health requirements, up to four weeks of games may be rescheduled to alternative weeks during or at the end of the season.
- In the event that the club is forced to close due to public health requirements, refunds will not be processed until the end of the scheduled season.
- No credits or refunds will be offered for rescheduled games, or for games missed by individual players.
- If a player or team chooses to withdraw from a league anytime after the first game of the season has been played, league fees will be non-refundable, subject to Board approval.
Example Refund Calculation: Assuming an AHS mandated closure after 13 weeks of curling and a season of 20 scheduled games.
League Fees = $400.00/Season ($20/Game)
Non-Refundable Amount = $200.00
Potentially Refundable Amount = $200.00
Games Played: 13 (65% of scheduled season)
Refund Calculation: $200.00 x 0.65 = $130.00 → $200.00 - $130.00 = $70.00 refund
If you have any questions about the 2021-2022 Season Refund Policy, please feel free to contact us.
